You'll never find a book or story that everyone likes. It's much better, I think, to write for yourself, because if you try to please everyone else it'll end up being literary mush.
Not to worry, Shade. I've been married to my soul-mate for 25 years now and I still really suck at writing love scenes. Girlfriends and romance will come along when you least expect it. Something I would advise for those looking for romance: be friends first. Passion is ephemeral, friendship is eternal and lasts even when passion fades.

And be careful about dating your friends. I had this one friend who was girl last year, and she liked me, and asked me out. I didn't want to hurt her feelings, and lose our friendship, so I said yes. We dated for a couple months, and then we broke up, and I asked if we could still be friends. She said yes, but it wasn't the same as it was before, and I really regret the whole relationship.

Or a lot of princesses to find a frog. I think it's a good idea to be careful about dating in high school. So many people get caught up in finding someone, that they forget it's okay to be friends, and they have lots of time after high school to find someone. Besides most high school relationships last a year or two at most, and break apart after graduation.
